VCT Floor Cleaning

When you have to worry about high traffic areas in high traffic buildings, Vinyl Composite Tile is the only way to go. The semi-linear patterns and familiar look of this incredibly popular flooring makes it stand out while still maintaining that classic look.

Because VCT flooring is so popular and long-lasting, one of the calls we get the most is, “I bought a business and it has VCT flooring.” It’s so long-lived that it often sees multiple owners.

Because it’s so tough, many take it for granted and forgo having it professionally cleaned, which is unfortunate as VCT flooring really pops when it’s kept in peak condition!

Strengths of VCT Flooring

  • They don’t warp or wear, and protect against impacts with very little visible wear and tear.

  • They stand up to UV radiation, making them resistant to fading even in high-heat, high-sun areas.

  • Because they are made of inorganic filler, their strength is retained reliably for 15-20 years at a minimum.

  • The patterns go with almost anything and offer an aesthetic change of pace when compared to less resilient flooring choices.

  • Slip-resistant finishes and surfaces come in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

  • Resists noise and echoing much better than concrete and other hard-floor materials. Sound absorbency is something that vinyl does well, which makes it ideal for large, open areas like supermarkets and churches.

  • Resistant to water accrual and doesn’t become a slipping hazard the same way concrete or wood does.

  • Flexible and easy to apply, making it ideal for DIY projects

Weaknesses of VCT Flooring

  • While the installation is easy, the prep work for install is not. VCT requires rigorous checking for uneven surfaces or edges that can wear down tiles prematurely.

  • While this is one of the most UV resistant flooring choices, it is still affected by extreme climate changes that can make the tiles appear dull and can cause the loss of the original shine.

  • If installed incorrectly, small soiling accumulations can lead to a shorter lifespan of the tiles and can make the tiles brittle over time.

  • VCT flooring can be quite difficult to remove due to the adhesives used to apply it, which can make replacing tiles difficult.
